About Weingut Kolb GbR

In the 1200-year-old Weinolsheim, located in the hilly region of Rheinhessen, 20 km south of Mainz and 6 km west of the Rhine, we, the Kolbs, live. A winemaking family with over 300 years of tradition in viticulture. Our winery is currently managed by winemaker Volker Kolb and his wife Claudia in the 9th and 10th generations. Since 2009, after passing his journeyman's exam, their son Mathias has also been integrated. In 2013, he completed his training with his winemaker title as well. As a family business, we currently cultivate 80,000 vines on 18 hectares of vineyard area. On our loess loam and clay marl soils in the local communities of Weinolsheim, Dalheim, Uelversheim, and Eimsheim, white grape varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Rivaner, Huxel, Bacchus, as well as red varieties like Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, St. Laurent, and Regent are at home. Everything from processing the harvest, storage, and aging of the wines to bottling and sales is done independently.
