About Ministry of Kaapi

Never one to shy away from stepping outside her comfort zone or take a leap of faith into the unknown, Danée has always enjoyed shaking things up a bit. And that is kind of, well rather exactly, why Ministry of Kaapi exists. What could only be called a totally insane idea – to start a coffee company (in an already saturated market) – came to her one morning when her then-boyfriend made her coffee in bed (spoiler alert: she married him, can you blame her?). That cup was smooth perfection, just exactly how she imagined coffee was supposed to taste but never quite did. How in the world did he make this? Were these magic beans? Turns out the coffee, or Kaapi as he called it, and the unique brew-style were Indian – another mind-blowing revelation. After plowing through his stash, she scoured the NYC markets to replenish their stock, only to come up empty-handed. How was that possible?! Seeing that there was no Indian coffee on the Third Wave coffee scene, she set out to make her own wave. People needed to know about Kaapi. Ministry of Kaapi is about shifting perspective and building awareness and appreciation of damn fine Indian coffee, a relative secret until now. We personally source and buy coffee from small, organic farmers who are pioneering sustainability and regenerative agriculture. Aside from roasting delicious Indian beans, we also small-batch hand-brew traditional South Indian coffee concentrate, known as Decoction, so you can savor and level-up anytime.
