Most greeting cards seem to fall into one of two categories. They're either syrupy with script fonts, roses, and a poem about a journey, or they feel a bit snarky. I don't usually talk to the people I love in either of those ways. When my sister calls me times in ten minutes because she keeps remembering one more thing. I don't send her a poem about that. I don't usually make a snarky or obscene comment either. We laugh, because it's so completely her, and because I would do the exact same thing. That's the whole idea here. A card should sound like the person who knows you best. Warm on the way in, funny on the way out. So the jokes are never about falling apart or resenting your family. They're about the small things we all do but rarely say out loud. Eating one cupcake in the car before carrying the other eleven inside. Opening the fridge twice in five minutes, hoping something new appeared. Saying we should really do this more often, then not doing it for a year. Standing in the kitchen with your coat still on, going through the house like a detective, because you set your keys down somewhere that made complete sense at the time, and that somewhere was the freezer. Nobody here is the punchline. The punchline is that we're all like this, every single one of us, and it's kind of wonderful. Being human is funny and tender, usually both together. That's where I create from. Those moment with my family and friend that are fun to say in a more tangible way. Enjoy!Read their story
