Initially established in 1879 as a rival tannery in Sawston, Cambridge. Our towering, tannery chimney was a local landmark icon where our chamois leather and sheepskin tanning production began. While we’ve evolved over the decades, our foundations remain the same. With a rich heritage in tanning chamois leather and sheepskin rugs, once proudly holding the Royal Warrant for our chamois Leathers. We’ve built deep expertise that now supports a broader product range. Today, we offer a curated collection of finished goods, including: aviator flying jackets, sheepskin slippers, gloves, leather purses, handbags and wallets & more. Eastern Counties Leather promotes the best of British and international leather and sheepskin craftsmanship. Our collections blend time-honoured techniques with modern design, working with our own tanneries, our raw hide exports and trusted suppliers who use carefully sourced materials and sustainable production methods. We use our own British and Irish sheepskins in the production of some of our products and work with our tanneries and factories across the UK, Poland, China, India and Turkey. We supply trade and wholesale customers across the UK and internationally.
