I started this brand when I was going through a difficulty time in my life, in my relationship and in my job, that ended with finding a new job and a new place to live. I started this business because making art has always brought a smile to my face. I have a BFA with concentration in ceramics. I work full time at a Genomic sequencing lab in their engineering department and run my business full-time also. It isn’t a business to me; it is my outlet and my stress reliver. I have been featured in Ocean Home Magazine and Seaside Retailer. I work in my apartment with my puppy, and I will say he is not a very good assistant. When he is not trying to steal the shells and I’m chasing him around the apartment, he is dead asleep at my feet or sighing because he isn’t allowed to help me put the shells on the wine stoppers. I started this business originally with puns, just pun based t-shirts! Then it became pun-based beach bags (which will be coming back and fully handmade), and then shells. The beach is one of the only places where I feel at home and relaxed. It started the day I decided to leave my husband. I took the day off and went to the beach. I saw an oyster shell and started to collect them. I started making the natural stoppers and learned how to decoupage in the garage of his house, slowly but surely it started to come together.
