It all started with a solo adventure to India in 1998, and quickly developed into a love of the culture and craft of this vast and ancient land. In 2016, during my first trip back to India in over 15 years, I saw a copper water bottle in Rishikesh. Copper is such a striking, natural material and here it is as a refillable, eco-friendly water bottle? It was on the top shelf of a fairly dusty general goods store and the sun was hitting it in such a way that it actually glowed. The shop keeper then informed me it was "Ayurvedic and good for health!" Obviously I bought it and immediately went to the nearest bookstore and bought a book on Ayurveda. "Ayurveda" -a (5,000 year old) form of alternative medicine that is the traditional system of medicine of India and seeks to treat and integrate body, mind, and spirit using a comprehensive holistic approach especially by emphasizing diet, herbal remedies, exercise, meditation, breathing, and physical therapy. A glass of Tamra Jal ("copper water" in Hindi) is taken first thing in the morning. Everyday.
