About Sword Fern Studios

Sword Fern Studios is an independent art studio celebrating the beauty of the natural world through the lens of small forest scenes and details often underappreciated. Much of the merch is made in house, including handmade stickers, stationary, select prints, and occasional small batch handmade/or seasonal goods. Illustrator Michelle F Mitchell is the artist behind Sword Fern Studios. She creates finely detailed, highly textured work that captures a love of nature and mycology with a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels, and colored pencils. The studio is named after the Sword Fern, a prolific plant iconic to forests throughout the Pacific Northwest where Michelle lives. Sword Fern Studios illustrations are meant to be shared through a variety of products to brighten a person's day–whether it be a fine art print or functional pieces like tote bags–and serve as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the detailed fungi, flora, & fauna that surround us.
