After owning my own boutiques for more than a decade – and hand-selecting every piece in every store – I realized there was a huge gap in the fashion market between what designers are offering and what my customers actually wanted. And it makes sense: The fashion industry is driven by trend, by telling you that the clothes you bought last season have to be replaced by what’s new, what’s next. Every season, a brand has to reinvent itself to stay alive. As a lifelong lover of fashion, I love a good trendy statement piece (or three), but they’re not the heart of my closet.
