About Written by Maria
Hi there! I’m Maria -- the creator behind Written by Maria. What started as a love for hand lettering in middle school quickly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined. After my parents encouraged me to join a local market in 2015, my small business journey officially began. In the early days, I mainly created hand-painted pallet wood signs. After that first market, custom orders started rolling in, and little by little, Written by Maria continued to grow. One of the biggest turning points came in 2020 when I invested in my first laser machine just one week before the world shut down. What felt terrifying at the time ended up allowing me to expand my product offerings and grow the business in new ways. In 2023, I moved into my own studio space (built by my brother) and finally had a dedicated home for Written by Maria. Today, our products can be found in storefronts across Central Illinois and in retail shops throughout the U.S. through wholesale partnerships. At the heart of everything I create is a desire to encourage others and share the hope of the Gospel through hand lettering and design. I'm in love with these hand-burnt products! Each one is so beautiful and tells a powerful truth. I ordered a few journals, multiple car charms, and some stickers and each product drew great attention at my last market!
