Choba Choba, a different kind of chocolate business We work in a fundamentally different way than the rest of the industry. Our name already shows this — in Quechua, Choba Choba means “I help you, you help me.” Our motivation is not to “maximize profits for shareholders”, but to permanently improve the living conditions of cocoa farmers in Peru. As a result, the cocoa farmer families involved not only receive two to three times more money for the raw material, but are also involved in the company's share capital and thus in the company's most important decisions and profits. Instead of suppliers of raw materials, they are therefore co-entrepreneurs on an equal footing. Grand Cru chocolates directly from our farms For our chocolates, we only use fine quality cocoa from our own production in the Alto Huayabamba Valley in the Peruvian Amazon. This magical micro-terroir is ideal for cocoa production, as it lies at the heart of the cocoa plant's origin. We control the quality of our chocolate right from the seedling stage and ensure that the cocoa is harvested at the right time, perfectly fermented, dried and then shipped to Switzerland. Once here, we just add cocoa butter and raw cane sugar to our cocoa — nothing else is added to our pure Grand Cru chocolates. Important: From autumn 2022, we will be working with a distributor in DE/AU. All business is then handled via a distributor.
