About Plays in the Paint

Plays in the Art Studio began in 2017 when the artist, Anne Albright, retired from 35+ years in the corporate world and began her journey into retirement. She began studying watercolor in 2008, but did not have the time to spend on a daily art practice. With retirement came time and with time came experiments and new techniques with watercolor pigment, water and ink. Her unique style is called "Meditations." The process of putting water and pigment onto paper doesn't require a lot of thought, but it is a lot of fun as the pigment floats and flows across the paper. Once the pigment is dry, Anne draws with ink where she finds a change in value or color. This is the phase that is very meditative as Anne follows the curves and lines where ever they go. The mind can wander and become calm during this process. The outcome is always a mystery and the title is added after she finds an image that catches her attention. Each viewer will see something different in the work. It's an opportunity for them to look, feel, take deep breaths and meditate. Read their story
