About Teema Towels

Teema is a Turkish towel & blanket company selling artisanal, handcrafted, 100% cotton goods manufactured using traditional looms in a small mountain town in Southwestern Turkey. All of our towels are multi-use and meant to double as a scarf, shawl, wrap, throw and more! Founded in Los Angeles in 2017, Teema was born after a chance encounter with a family of weavers during a trip to Turkey. This family had traditional jacquard looms in their homes, and used them to weave towels and blankets which they sold locally. We quickly learned that not only did this family own their own looms, but nearly every family in this small mountain town had a loom in their home as well. This was a town that specialized in the weaving of traditional Turkish textiles, and had been for hundreds of years. Two years and 25,000 towels later, all of our manufacturing is still handled by a network of independent weavers in that small Turkish mountain town. Some of the looms used in our production are over 50 years old, having been in these families for decades. We take pride in the quality and care that goes into the manufacturing of our products. All of our products are cut and tied by hand, and each loom requires the constant supervision and intervention of an experienced weaver. Not only are our goods of very high quality, but they're also extremely versatile!
