RESLIDES began with a simple moment of dissatisfaction: on a VW bus trip through Europe, product designer Benno looked for open shoes that would suit both scenic adventures and style-conscious city trips—and found none. Flip-flops were not an option; classic cork-footbed sandals no longer felt contemporary. So he decided to design his own future-proof sandals. At the same time, an estimated mountain of 22 billion pairs of shoes is thrown away worldwide every year. Complex material mixes and a lack of concepts prevent recycling—even for sandals. RESLIDES positions itself as an answer to this problem: modular sandals that allow fashionable self-determination without constant repurchasing. The sandals consist of three easily separable components—sole, strap, buckle—and a patented modular construction. Customers adapt their sandals to style and occasion with interchangeable straps: "Update instead of buy new." This way the shoe stays in use while the look changes. Through TRADE-IN, RETURN AFTER USE and the CIRCULARITY CREDIT included in the purchase price, RESLIDES takes back worn parts and feeds the materials back into recycling in a single-stream manner. Design and development are carried out with great passion in Zurich, and over 95% of production takes place in Europe.
