Old City Canning Co. was reimagined when we took ownership of this beloved brand and gave it a fresh new identity, rooted in the rich history of Philadelphia and the creativity that defines it. Our journey began when Stanford, a trained sommelier, began using candle oils to enhance his scent recognition for wine tasting. After acing his exam, he found himself with an abundance of oils and decided to craft candles—leading to the birth of Old City Canning Co. After years of refining his craft, Stanford developed a proprietary wax blend combining soy, coconut that burns longer and releases fragrance more effectively than traditional 100% soy candles. We channel his sommelier expertise into creating our unique and evocative scents. We’re committed to sustainability and community, proudly offering candles in 100% recycled vessels. Old City Canning Co. is LGBTQ-founded and now woman owned and we continue to honor the values of inclusivity and support by donating 10% of our profits to charities and causes that make a difference. We also collaborate with other minority brands to uplift diverse voices and foster creativity in all we do.
