About Telle of the Hills

Telle of the Hills is handcrafted in the Appalachian mountains by Telle ter Horst. My designs pay homage the beauty of the natural world and evoke a sense of timelessness. Having spent half my formative years in the woods of Georgia and the other half in Los Angeles, my creative musings are a balance of earthy ruggedness and refined big city modernity. My last name comes from my Dutch ancestors and means "of the hills." I am an artist, not a brand. Every piece you receive is crafted by my hands alone. I like to make as much from scratch as possible, such as my signature ear wires. I source materials from suppliers who emphasize ethical practices, and I am committed to minimizing the amount of waste produced from my own small studio. All of your lovely orders are shipped plastic-free. When I'm not in my studio, I like to be outdoors as much as possible. My yard is filled with curious creatures, a vegetable garden, and a growing native plant collection. I am passionate about preserving the unique biodiversity of the Appalachian mountains, and about supporting local food systems. I donate annually to organizations in my area that focus in these areas.Read their story
