A Timeless Brand with a Storied History Precious Moments founding artist Samuel J. Butcher’s artwork has always been inspired by faith, family, and friends. His soulful illustrations of children with teardrop-shaped eyes were first featured on popular greeting cards. When Mr. Butcher saw the first sample of a Precious Moments figurine more than 40 years ago he was awestruck. The sculptor had captured the very essence of Mr. Butcher’s iconic Precious Moments artwork Love One Another and had brought it to life. In that moment, one of this humble artist’s dreams had come true. In 1978, the Original 21 Precious Moments figurines were released to worldwide acclaim and a new collecting and gift-giving tradition was born. Around the world, Precious Moments became known for its beautiful, hand-painted porcelain bisque figurines featuring children with captivating teardrop-shaped eyes. The Precious Moments Collectors’ Club was born in 1981 and grew to over 400,000 Members worldwide. By sharing common values of loving, caring, and sharing, collectors formed a close knit, yet far-reaching global community. Family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers bonded joyfully as they celebrated everyday moments and special occasions with Precious Moments figurines. In 1989, Mr. Butcher opened the Precious Moments Chapel as a way of honoring his faith. Today, the Precious Moments Foundation is a non-profit organization.Read their story
