Here’s a bit of the #bts around how our business came to be what it is today. Starting a business was never my plan. I sort of expected a life of clocking in for the 9-5 and signing my brain off at the end of the day. But my story ended up pretty far off that, with some exciting ups and some major downs too! Studying Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins in London, I’d say I had a pretty unorthodox college experience pretty much from the get-go, where within minutes of our first lecture we were told: “If you are here to be ‘taught’, F*** off.” That stuck with me. A few clients, jobs and years later, I set up a small Etsy shop of cards. I created some illustrations and put some text together While there was no magical boom in Etsy sales, I was getting noticed. I started selling at local markets, some online features rolled in and then I landed my first wholesale client. I realise now (and all my friends and family like to remind me) that asa kid, I’d always make some form of a card to celebrate moments. Whether it was birthdays, a new pen, a new job… whatever it was, I would always make something to celebrate. It was something that came to me naturally. I enjoy being able to make something out of nothing and I enjoy using my hands and getting 100,000 paper cuts just to get you to LOL (like literally laugh out loud).
