About Digital Horology

It started one day when my daughters and I were playing & building a simple electronic circuit - a row of LED lights that blinked on and off. I asked them "This could be a clock if we add some things, couldn't it? What could we do if we had 12 LEDs?" This sparked a flurry of questions, research, experiments, and answers. Before we knew it, a clock was born! But not just any clock... This clock automatically sets its own time by connecting to the space-based Satellite Global Positioning System. And, since we already have plenty of clocks that tell the hours and minutes, we figured: Why not show something different? Clocks can show the moon phase, mark important holidays, and do anything else we could dream up that requires accurate timekeeping. We studied the great masters of horology to see what very expensive, complicated timepieces do, and drew our inspiration from them. Because I am a hobbyist woodworker with a well-equipped workshop, we were able to build a clock nice enough for my wife to exuberantly declare "I'd like to have that in the living room!" Soon, our friends and family were asking us to make clocks for them too. Why not make a few extra & see if anybody else wants them?
