Butter By Keba is a Harlem based premium line of plant-based moisturizers and synergistic fragrances designed to give you smoother skin while uplifting and soothing your mood using the practice of aromatherapy and perfumery. A unique combination of plant-based ingredients; infused with a thoughtful application of phthalate-free fragrance and natural essential oils; gives birth to a dynamic line of products that appeal to every nose. Makeba Guilan Lloyd, a Harlem-born native  New Yorker of Southern and Guyanese descent, began her 20 year professional career as a real estate associate specializing in newly constructed condominium sales.   However, after an educational tour through Egypt, she became inspired to learn about the art of perfumery and aromatherapy.  Makeba pursued her curiosity in the classrooms of the New York Open Center, New York Institute of Aromatic Studies, Illuminated Perfume and Pratt Institute with a focus in Natural Perfumery, Aromatherapy, Classic Perfumery and Ancient Egyptian Perfumery. She is also a member of the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists. Makeba is an active community member and supporter of causes that are in important to her. These include her community garden where she volunteers, and the facilitation of her weekly aromatherapy and perfumery workshop for Harlem’s at-risk youth through partnership with Harlem-based organization Hands That Make a Difference.
