Situated in the Northern Rivers region in Australia’s state of New South Wales, the traditional Bundjalung people know the lands of the Bungawalbin as the ‘healing ground’. Their stories tell of the Australian native tea tree and its use in traditional culture. Leaves and twigs of tea trees at the lagoon’s edge were said to fall into the water, staining it a rich bronze, and infusing it with tea tree’s signature properties. Today, tea tree is world renowned for its antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties.
