About herzundhund

It all started with a ball for my own dog. It became so popular that soon the whole neighborhood had such balls, and thus herzundhund was born. From that one ball, thousands have now been made, and the product range now also extends to cats. The many delighted messages from our pet owners confirm that it was and is a great idea. From the beginning, no compromises were made regarding raw material procurement. We only buy our wool locally, as wool is a waste product in Germany and no sheep are kept specifically for it. Additionally, the so-called mulesing (where the skin around the sheep's tail is removed without anesthesia) is banned in Germany and not necessary, as we do not have overbred breeds like in Australia and New Zealand. There, much of the (rightly) frowned-upon mulesing is now being avoided, but due to overbreeding, painful maggot infestations occur around the anus, so the sheep are now fully submerged in dipping baths while fully conscious to kill the maggots. For this reason, we do not buy wool from overseas, even though it would be much easier for production. We stand for regionality, social awareness, environmental compatibility, craftsmanship, and our products are beautiful, washable, and also super exciting.
