Marketing guru Wil Shelton knows firsthand Black salons and barbershops aren’t just places to get a haircut, they are also incubators of culture and cultivators of culture. Shelton a former hairstylist and salon owner understood that Black salons and barbershops are the ecosystem for Black communities to flourish and that stylists and barbers who oversee the shops play a key role. When the COVID pandemic forced these small businesses to temporarily close, many brick-and-mortar entrepreneurs had to pivot to virtual services to survive. Shelton says “Black hairdressers are like black therapists. Sacred Sessions candles are the aroma therapy that fills the room and fills the spirit with fond fragrances that reignites your emotions and perfectly captures the times spent in the beauty shop and barbershop chair on a Saturday morning.” When you imagine beauty and wellness, Sacred Sessions candles become part of that as a form of self-care, because there’s a calming to each candle usage. Each candle is specially handcrafted using a soy wax blend. Shelton enlisted key shop owners from different parts of the country to be on the advisory board to breathe more life into the authenticity of Sacred Sessions candles.
