About Fringe Art Collective
Douglas Robertson was born & raised in Minneapolis, MN. He started drawing as a teen. He moved to Oregon in 1988 & received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics at University of Oregon in 1992. Douglas continued toexplore the realm of ceramics after college, moved to Bend, OR in 2000, & created numerous ceramic collections including an installation for Burning Man Art Festival in 2008. He shifted mediums in 2013, & began exploring his passion for painting & murals. His paintings utilize a mixture of spray paint, acrylic paint, & hand-cut stencils. Dara Robertson grew up in Bend. Her dad Tom introduced her to the idea of 'Outsider Art' as a teen. Art that was either "out on the edge" of current fashion, or was created by those who were not considered "main-stream". Dara has always felt connected to the idea. A self-proclaimed "crafty lady", hair stylist, & viola player, she has many different mediums in her artistic arsenal. In 2006, when mulling over how to express "outsider art" as a name for her new hair studio, Fringe was born. Dara & Douglas met in 2007, married in 2011, & have been living in Bend making art & raising their family. Fringe Art Collective was created in 2022 to introduce Douglas' new collection of high-quality art prints, greeting cards, & stickers featuring selected images from his recent collections of canvas paintings. Dara is obsessed with making miniature flower bouquets with paper & wire that will be coming soon. We hope you enjoy!
