As coffee drinkers, it bothered us that the majority of the 20 million smallhold coffee farmers around the world were not compensated fairly for their coffees. We decided right then. We will not allow these unfair practices to happen on our watch. The Pirates of Coffee came together to change the coffee industry for the better by helping farmers earn a fair amount for their coffee. The Crew was formed and we set sail on a journey in pursuit of the world’s best coffees. When we discover treasure during our travels, we purchase the coffee from producers via direct trade at a premium compared to other trading models (such as Fairtrade). We are looking for like-minded bold people to join The Crew, people who are ready to challenge the status quo in the coffee industry.
