Abalulu is a children's game we used to play when we were little; one of the kids would chase the others with his hands up shouting “Abalulu is coming!!”. Everyone would run away, shouting and laughing and I was so scared of this terrible imaginary ghost! Abalulu’s story is about me, my own fear and anxiety and the way I cope with it. That’s the fear that drove me forward – the fear of daring! Today I chose to place that same Abalulu next to me and give it a stage. Me&Mi refers to Mia, my daughter, and I. Mia loves fashion, she is a little fashionista! One day she came up to me and said: “Mom, I want a dress just like yours!” – so I made it. That was the birth of Abalulu’s Me&Mi concept. Our collections: We created a new language, fusing ancient and progress, old and new, humor and gravity, modern and antique. We develop our own fabrics, weaved by hand loom, or block printed with wood-carved stamps. The charm of the fabric, with a personal touch, modern graphics and minimalist cuts, weaving washed fabrics with metallic, silver and gold threads and applying drawings that Mia prepared using dye-sublimation printing.
