About Kali Dogwear

Our story at Kali began with our founder, Annika, searching for a sustainable collar in Bali, Indonesia. We were frustrated by the lack of high-quality options and the abundance of cheap plastic collars, so we decided to create our own. After researching eco-friendly materials, we discovered leftover yarn from garment factories in Java and used it to craft our first collar in October 2019. As we continued to refine our collar designs, we added coconut yarn and sought out metal buckles to replace the plastic ones. Meanwhile, we and our friends who rescued stray dogs in Bali were struggling with the growing vet bills. We knew we wanted to help the dogs in a sustainable way without relying on constant donations. Seeing the positive response to our collars, we realized that creating long-lasting, plastic-free collars could both meet a need in the market and generate funds for the street dogs. And so, Kali Dogwear was born. Our vision included donating a portion of profits to a selected rescue dog foundation. As Kali grew, we expanded our product line to include dog beds. After weeks of sampling, our hard work paid off, and in June 2021, we opened the first Kali Dogwear shop in Canggu, Bali.
