About Fish Aye Trading
From the Fishing Boat to Your Table Inspired by the sea. Created by a fisherman. Made to be shared. Based in Harwich, Cape Cod, John Doherty is both a fisherman and a working artist. As a licensed charter boat captain, he spends much of his time on the water and it was there that an unexpected discovery sparked the creation of FishAye Art. One day, while unloading his daily catch, John noticed the imprint a fish had left on his boat's deck. That simple moment of discovery inspired him to experiment with paint, ink, and fish, exploring Gyotaku—the traditional Japanese art of fish printing, also known as “fish rubbing.” What began as a happy accident grew into a distinctive collection of original fish-inspired artwork, bringing the beauty, texture, and character of marine life to everyday living. Today, FishAye Art transforms that inspiration into functional art for the home, including placemats, coasters, trays, and wall art. Each piece captures a little of the coastal spirit, making it a natural fit for seaside boutiques, gift shops, museum stores, and home décor retailers. For your customers, it's more than a product.it's a piece of the sea, with a story worth sharing. Proudly created in the USA, FishAye Art brings together craftsmanship, coastal character, and everyday functionality, perfect for customers who want to bring a touch of the ocean home.
