Taking a sip from a gently sculpted, handcrafted ceramic cup, for example, is entirely different than using a mass-produced mug, because it introduces into this intimate experience all of the things that make us human: our sensitivity to touch; our innate appreciation of color, craft and design; and, most important, the warm sense of gratitude we feel when we know that something was made by hand, with care, especially for us.
