A shopper in the de Young museum store

A hand-carved owl eyeglass holder made from Indian rosewood. A laser-cut
“just because” card made in a solar-powered studio. An ergonomic ice cream scoop that slices through ice cream like butter. You’ll only find such a collection of items on the same shelf at a museum store, where thoughtful, story-driven gifts invite shoppers to take a little bit of their cultural experience home with them. These extraordinary stores are often curated by the passionate retailers of The Museum Store Association (MSA), a vibrant community that knows how to bring art and retail together in a uniquely powerful way.

We’re excited to announce a partnership between MSA and Faire. As part of this partnership, Faire will become the only online platform where museum stores can shop a curated collection of MSA brands, offering a seamless one-stop shop for buyers. Additionally, Faire will be the newest sponsor of the MSA’s annual conference and Museum Store Sunday

When MSA retailers sign up to shop on Faire, they’ll gain access to:

  • Flexible payment terms: Buy now, pay up to 60 days later—interest-free
  • Unique and curated products, including the dedicated MSA product collection
  • Free returns on opening orders for trying new brands risk-free

Read on to learn more about three of the MSA brands featured on Faire, or shop the collection now. New to Faire? Matr Boomie

Matr Boomie is a fair-trade collection that blends the traditional art forms of India with a timeless design aesthetic, bringing people and cultures closer together. In Sanskrit, matr boomie translates to “mother land.” The vision at Matr Boomie Fair Trade is to create a world that is playful, compassionate, kind, and connected.

The Matr Boomie collection of jewelry, home decor, and unique gifts is made from eco-friendly and upcycled materials. Products are handmade by artisan partners in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, creating economic opportunities in marginalized communities in India.

The Matr Boomie team sells on Faire to easily serve its retailers. “Many stores appreciate the ease and convenience of buying all of their products from a single source and love the variety of products that Faire provides,” says Kathryn Solow, national sales manager for Matr Boomie.

Kathryn loves museum stores and knows that MSA retailers are at the forefront of choosing design-focused products that are fair trade and sustainably sourced. “We are excited for our MSA family to have a one-stop shop for all MSA member products,” she says.

two hermanas

Laser-cut greeting card company two hermanas is based in Bonitas, California, and co-owned by sisters Beckri and Elizabeth. They strive to create cards that bring a smile to people’s faces using recycled paper and compostable protective sleeves, all made in their solar-powered studio.

While Beckri gravitates toward the creative side of the business, Elizabeth enjoys building relationships with customers. They both appreciate how Faire makes their lives easier. “Faire makes it super easy to run promotions, add products, and email customers,” Elizabeth says.

Elizabeth is “super excited to see this partnership” because it brings two great communities together. “I have always loved being in museum stores, and I know that museum stores try to support MSA vendors,” she adds. “This partnership will make all of our lives easier.”

Midnight Scoop

The story behind Midnight Scoop is one of determination and ingenuity. Founder Michael Chou loved ice cream but found that traditional scoops were uncomfortable to use. He set out to create an innovative ice cream scoop featuring a curved handle and a unique rotating blade that cuts through cold ice cream with minimal effort.

Jennifer Recchione, account manager at Midnight Scoop, loves selling to MSA stores in particular because they cater to a demographic that aligns well with the brand’s target audience. Jennifer appreciates that MSA stores have a strong market presence, high foot traffic, and wide customer reach, so she knows Midnight Scoop’s products will find relevant and engaged consumers.

“By being featured on the Faire platform, the MSA can increase its brand exposure to a targeted audience of retailers who are actively seeking unique and high-quality products,” says Jennifer. “This exposure can generate interest in MSA’s brand and products, leading to potential partnerships and sales opportunities.”
