Welcome back to the Faire Fashion Index, our guide to the past month’s top sartorial searches to keep you on the cusp of what’s trending today.

Building on last month, retailers are prepping for the warm weather by stocking up on spring and summer wardrobe essentials. Think: denim cutoff shorts, sandals, maxi dresses, and knit rompers. And they’re getting ready for beach days ahead with fun crop tops, breathable tanks, and swimwear too.

While wholesale buying for Easter and interest in “spring” search terms slowed in March, retailers did sprint to stock up ahead of the solar eclipse—helping shoppers dress the part with on-theme tees representing the magical lunar moment.

A few other trends that have continued to top the charts: bamboo pajamas, boyfriend socks, and plus-size clothing to ensure retail stores are inclusive for all. We’ve omitted those here in favor of what’s new and trending within Faire’s community of apparel retailers. Let’s dive in!

  1. Denim shorts: For all the Cowboy Carter fans.
  2. Trucker hats (last month’s no. 8): These ’90s throwback hats are here to stay.
  3. Maxi dresses: Breezy looks, ranging from casual to formal (but always flowing).
  4. Sandals (last month’s no. 9): Prepping for summer weather ahead.
  5. Graphic tees (last month’s no. 6): Stylish, solar eclipse-themed shirts to pair with those ISO-certified shades.
  6. Rompers: The perennial one-and-done outfit.
  7. Denim dresses: Stretch bodycon numbers, airy T-shirt styles, and flirty belted minis.
  8. Jeans: Mid-rise, frayed knees, and just a little cropped are the crowd favorites.
  9. Summer tops: Anything to stay cool and chic.
  10. Women’s swimwear (last month’s no. 10): Ready for a dip at a moment’s notice.

Most popular styles

Knit, sleeveless button-down from By Together; crochet pullover from Blu Pepper
  1. Basic tank tops: From By Together’s seamless staples to NIKIBIKI’s crop tops and perfect everyday camisoles from FULL TIME PURCHASE, shoppers want sleeveless tops to pair with their warm-weather outfits. Bonus points for a seamless tank as an essential layering piece.

  2. Solar eclipse tees: In preparation for the solar eclipse, retailers were chasing on-theme tees from shops like Spirit+Tribe, The Wright Style, and Wildberry Waves. To pair with their denim cutoffs, perhaps?

  3. Crochet pullover sweaters: For breezy spring nights ahead, shoppers are looking for lightweight sweaters. Crochet pullovers from Blu Pepper bring a boho-chic vibe to an everyday look, whether shoppers are head-to-toe athleisure or dressing for work.

  4. Fringe kimonos: For a fashion-forward summer cover-up to wear on and off the beach, consumers are snapping up flowing kimonos from Leto Accessories and floral, fringed numbers from Three Bird Nest.

  5. High-rise denim cutoff shorts: Short-short, Daisy Duke–inspired denim cutoffs, like these from Sun’s Out, are on the rise. Full of rips, tears, and fringe, these upcycled shorts would pair perfectly with some cowboy boots.
