Zanzibar is known as “The Spice Island”, after it’s vast spice plantations, which are a must visit when spending time on the island. One of my favourite experiences in Zanzibar was my time out visiting the spice plantations to see how they are all grown. From cinnamon trees, seeing how the bark is harvested, to clusters of green clove buds, still waiting to mature, and seeing how nutmeg and mace are actually part of the same plant (it’s true – check it out!) I love how all the spice scents all complement each other and bring out the best in each other. Anise is the star of this bar, with it’s good friends, cinnamon, clove and ginger. I’ve added a ‘squeeze’ of lime to give a little bit of sweetness to the blend, and lift the blend to a new level. Layered a little like a liquorice allsort, and topped with a piece of star anise, this is a wonderful unisex bar that will invigorate and energise..
