Spica Lavender Essential Oil Not to be confused with the essential oil of real lavender, that of Lavanda Spica is obtained from the spica lavandula, also called “spigo” or “spigonardo” because of its wider and rougher leaves and colored flowers gray-blue with narrower goblet. In addition to the active linalool and linalyl acetate characteristic of Lavender essential oil, in the spica we also find oxides (1,8-cineole) and ketones (camphor), albeit in modest quantities. Difference that we also find in the more camphor smell compared to real Lavender. Given the presence of camphor and cineole, spica lavender is to be considered more anti-rheumatic and mucolytic than real. It is also used excellently in the treatment of redness and skin irritation, where it soothes and gives relief in case of itching.
