Vaseline is a well-spreadable, greasy base ointment that covers the skin and consists of pure Vaseline. It hydrates by retaining moisture in the skin and protects against (further) dehydration. More specifically, this ointment can be used to cover the (vulnerable) skin, for example in cases where the skin cannot or cannot sufficiently fulfil its barrier function.
