The history of blonde beer, called Blonde Ale by the Anglo-Saxons, finds its ancestors in the age-old traditions of pale ale and Kölsch. It probably originated from a lighter version of pale ale that was brewed in the first half of the 19th century. Modern blondes are now brewed worldwide, from Belgium (which is actually a distinct style) to Brazil, from France to the United States.
