High fired to 1260 C, making the pieces non-porous, strong and durable for regular use. Glazed with a beige glaze that has slight crystalline/crackle pattern unique to each piece - ranging from matte to glossy at places. Is it matte or glossy? Both :) We love this glaze for the variation it offers, where there is slightly thicker area it pools glossy- reminiscent of ash wood-firing. where the glaze is thinner it's more RUSTIC BROWN. I do my best to show the variation in the images. Enjoy the varied surface and let me know when making a purchase if you have a strong preference for more matte brown or for more glossy areas :)
