What is vegan from Brittany? or rather who is it? Sandrine Marsaudon Mersch, founder of the company Vegane de Bretagne, grew up in a family of bakers offering organic bread. Being a vegetarian since she was 18, Sandrine always wanted to put vegan delights into the hands of the general public and to introduce her vegan adaptations of Breton recipes. She then decided in 2017 to launch her own business by moving to the city of Nantes, following her values and beliefs. She starts by making her preparations in a shared kitchen and books in organic grocery stores, bulk stores and restaurants in Nantes by bike. The company's activity adopts the most eco-responsible approach possible at all stages of production. All ingredients are 100% organic, the flours are supplied by local producers, some of the raw materials come from fair trade such as cocoa and sugar and the packaging and labels are made of recycled and biodegradable paper. Vegane de Bretagne makes its own butter substitute, which allows it to prepare its pastries and spreads from Brittany, which traditionally require animal products.Read their story
