About Rijkje Jewelry

My fascination for jewelry found its roots in my grandparents jewelry store. I would study and touch the precious metals and stones for hours at a time. At the age of 14 my father took me to a goldsmith club. I loved it. My choice after high school suddenly became clear; I studied at the Goldsmith Education in Schoonhoven.And after this I completed my fashion degree at Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam. Soon after graduation I began working as a jewelry designer for several fashion brands. 7 years ago I made a worldtrip with my family and got inspired by seeing so many different cultures, especially in Peru. Because of this trip I decided to start my own brand. The Hermitage Museum asked me 2 years ago to design a bold modern Jewelry serie inspired by the ‘Jewels’ exhibition, and I started to work with recycled perspex. Since then I fell in love with this material because I can express myself by using beautiful colors in combination with my drawings. I’m proud of my collabs with different Museums, because art is a big inspiration for me, and I donate a part of several jewelry series to great foundations because It’s important to give something back to society.
