The toquilla straw is a flexible but resistant material. It grows naturally in the provinces of Santa Elena and Manabí in Ecuador. Small communities of artisans are responsible for cultivating, collecting, processing, and preparing the straw for weavers and buyers. The know-how has been passed down to them from previous generations. With our daily efforts, we help to promote and preserve the toquilla tradition for future generations. CARE: Our products are made of toquilla straw. As you well know, it is a handmade product, as it is hand-woven by master weavers in Ecuador. In dry climates or when exposed to the sun, the straw must be humidified from time to time with a water vaporizer.
