Growing up, my Chinese mother would always wake up extra early to make me Zhou (or congee) before school – a warm, nourishing start to the day. But I just wanted to be the same as everyone else in school and have a simple bowl of cereal. As I got older and busier, my mornings became all about convenience. I ate the same 5-minute cereal every day. As much as I loved the crunch of cereal with a spoonful of milk, I missed the wholesome scent of natural cooked grains coming together in one bowl. So, I created 12Summers – a balance of both worlds. The ease of cereal, the nutrition of something more. Our ready-to-eat grain bowls are pre-mixed with dairy and plant-based milks, require no refrigeration, and are microwavable for a quick, warm meal.
