English artist Louis Wain (1860–1939) is celebrated for his whimsical, anthropomorphic cat illustrations. His artistic journey began with traditional Victorian-style works but took a playful turn when he drew cats to cheer up his ailing wife, Emily, inspired by their kitten, Peter. Dubbed "The Man Who Drew Cats" by 1890, Wain became a prominent figure, serving as president of the National Cat Club and illustrating cats for books, postcards, and advertisements. Despite financial hardships later in life, the artistic community supported him. Wain’s legacy endures as a pioneer of imaginative and heartwarming cat art.
