Description
We Indians love variety in our meals. Never just one dish. The Thali has always been at the heart of Indian dining, bringing together different flavors and foods in one beautiful setting. P-TAL’s handcrafted brass Thali set celebrates this heritage with multiple bowls, a glass, and a spoon, so you can enjoy a complete, wholesome meal the way it was meant to be served. The katoris and the glass are tin-coated on the inside, a centuries-old craft called kalai that not only adds an elegant silver touch but also keeps food fresh and safe, especially for tangy dishes like yogurt or curries. Handmade by artisans of the Thatheras community, a craft form recognized by UNESCO, every piece is unique. No two are ever exactly alike. What’s Included Brass Thali Plate (1 piece) 10.75 inches in diameter, handcrafted, golden finish, approximately 1.5 lbs Bowls (2 pieces) 4 inches each, golden outside with silver tin lining Glass (1 piece) 12 fl oz or 350 ml, hammered golden finish with tin-coated inside Spoon (1 piece) 7 inches, golden outside with silver tin lining Note: Slight variations in size and weight are natural with handcrafted products and add to their charm. Care Instructions Wash the inside with mild dish soap. For shine, use Pitambari or a simple mix of flour, lemon juice, and salt. Avoid storing food for long periods in brass. FAQs Why is there a tin coating inside the bowls and glass? Tin or kalai has been used in India for centuries to prevent reactions with sour foods like yogurt or buttermilk. It also gives a smooth silver finish that makes every meal look festive. Why is my Thali not identical to the picture? Each piece is handmade by artisans, so small variations are natural. It is what makes your set one of a kind. Did You Know? The Thatheras of Punjab almost stopped making these utensils because exact machine-like duplication was not possible. Today that very uniqueness makes handcrafted brass Thalis more treasured than ever.
