KIKYOU 16cm plate - blue The Kikyo (Chinese bellflower) is a Japanese flower that has been loved by the Japanese people since ancient times and is mentioned in the Manyoshu (The Anthology of Myriad Leaves). The language of flowers is "eternal love," "elegance," and "purity. (It differs depending on the color of the flower.) It is said that the flower originally became a family crest when Mitsuhira Toki of the Toki clan fought with a bellflower between his helmet. The Akechi clan, a branch of the Toki clan, also took over this family crest and used the Kikyo crest. Mino ware with a Kikyo pattern was made in the area associated with Mitsuhide Akechi. The flow of time can be felt in this pottery. The 5" plate is a good size for everyday use.
