About Lou's Hues

I’m Lou! Diane Lou. My obsession with color is unrelenting. I constantly adorn myself with a wild color pallet that hits my mood of the day. I probably drive my friends nuts by how often I stop everyone to look at something like the color of a chair in the shadow. I get the most joy in life when I can play with color. My soul feels fulfilled when I am mixing bizarre fabric patterns together, splattering paint, or exploring exciting new color combinations in my studio. Mainly I just want to make spirited, beautiful things and help people surround their lives with more lively and vibrant wonders. I’ve been studying the arts full time for about a decade. Never able to settle on one medium at Indiana University, I took all the studio classes they offered. In 2016 I decided to get out into the real world and get started on my art career. I want my art to be accessible to anyone and everyone, while also feeling unique to each customer that places it in their home. That’s how “Lou’s Hues” was born. In 2019 I moved to Houston, Texas with my husband. The new metropolitan city life lit a fire under my ass to get illustrating and work towards my dream of seeing my creations in stores. Making one off handmade items wasn’t satisfying anymore, I wanted to create designs and products to manufacture and sell in stores. It’s a dream of mine that every day I will continue to strive for, everyday in my studio tucked in a wooded patch of the city.Read their story
