About The Bereket Journey

Bereket Journey was started by Peter Callahan and Sue Wright, both retired business people who had travelled the world and seen many inequalities. For example, they came across a group of middle eastern refugee families who had experienced many hardships to reach a place of relative safety and security. These families wanted to put the past behind them, forego charitable handouts and more than anything they wanted the dignity of work. They could then feel back in control of their lives and provide for their families. The company is called ‘Bereket’ which means ‘blessing’ in many Middle Eastern languages and ‘Journey’ because these families are on a journey to find their way home again, where ever that will be.
