About Microbiome Arts

Hi there! Microbiome Arts is a Chicago-based project started by artist and illustrator Sami Mark. Think of this shop as its own ecosystem - I have always been a lover of the smallest, sometimes unsung organisms, and I take pride in designing accessories, stickers and more inspired by these creatures! Whether you love the microscopic, fossils, insects, sea life, or more, there’s something for every nature nerd here. I enjoy working with those who love color, quirkiness, and celebrating the everyday! I I believe that art is a gateway for education surrounding the natural world. I love creating fun and playful designs that can be fun for both professional scientists, nature hobbyists, or those who aren’t yet immersed in the world of science! I value authenticity, learning, social activism and equality and bring all of these values to my brand as a queer artist and maker. All items are designed thoughtfully and shipped with recyclable, compostable, or reused packaging to help protect the environment we all share. Read their story
