About We Are Gommu

GOMMU is more than a toy brand — it’s a universe rooted in empathy, sustainability, and calm childhood play. Founded in Barcelona in 2021 as a mother-daughter project, GOMMU was born from a deep desire to offer children something better: toys that are safe, meaningful, and made with care for the planet. We saw a shift in new generations — children more connected to nature, more emotionally aware, more conscious — and we wanted to speak their language. The name “GOMMU” comes from the Japanese word for rubber, chosen not only because it represents the natural material that launched our first collection, but also because it reflects everything we stand for: simplicity, imperfection, minimalism, and a deep respect for both aesthetics and sustainability. We began with the rubber GOMMU family, after a full year of development and prototyping. Each doll is made from 100% hevea tree rubber, FSC-certified, biodegradable, non-toxic, and free from petroleum, BPA, or PVC. They’re hand-molded and painted using food-grade pigments in small certified factories in Asia, while all design and creative direction is done in-house at our studio in Barcelona.
