ABOUT MSGREENJEANNE: I’m an illustrator, nature geek and storyteller at heart, based in the Connecticut River Valley in Massachusetts. My designs aim to celebrate relationships among wildlife flora and fauna while bringing beauty into your home. Drawing on my background in environmental design and landscape architecture, I create products that spark curiosity and appreciation for the natural world, and maintain a monthly “Tangled Tales” nature blog. DESIGN THEMES: My illustrations highlight relationships between plants & pollinators, caterpillars & host plants, animals & food sources, special habitats, and local ecology. I’m inspired by fellow nature enthusiasts, gardeners, biologists, birders, and local indigenous people. I am a slow hiker, because I’m always learning—I stop often to identify unknown birds, plants, frogs, and butterflies! MY PROCESS: Before bringing flora and fauna motifs to life with digital paintbrushes and pens, I research species and habitats. I then create dozens of design layers with textures and gradations, to achieve the luminosity that is a hallmark of my artwork. Whether it's a jigsaw puzzle, tea towel, or coaster, each hand-drawn design tells a story about the connections among the living beings who share our planet earth.
