Gorilla Socks was born in Naples in 2017 with the aim of combining new trends in terms of design with the increasing attention to the environment and the sustainability of materials. The idea is to transform a common and everyday garment, such as socks, into something that is not only trendy but that uses new natural fibers that respect the environment. The two founding partners, Andrea Salvia and Tommaso Colella have chosen bamboo fiber for this purpose: comfortable, durable and breathable, thus creating brightly colored socks suitable for any occasion of use. Gorilla Socks proposes itself as an actor in the fight against environmental unsustainability in the world of the textile industry by proposing a natural and eco-sustainable fiber. Specifically, bamboo has exceptional properties and is particularly appreciated by those who care about the environment. It is a fast-growing plant, up to one meter per day, and grows without human help. The harvest takes place every 3-4 years, avoiding the devastating processes of deforestation. The cultivation of bamboo has a very low environmental impact, in fact it consumes ⅓ of the water of most crops and very often only needs rainwater with minimal anhydride emissions carbon and emitting a large amount of oxygen. From all these characteristics we derive a yarn that makes Gorilla Socks products shiny, soft, antibacterial, resistant, breathable, absorbent.
